I want to helpThanks to the strong support of our community, we purchased our new home at 318 South Atherton! Now we are fundraising to renovate the space and hire additional staff, working toward our goal of a full-time, permanent shelter in downtown State College.
Our work is supported by caring community members who volunteer to spend time with our guests, cook meals for those staying with us, and donate items that make our guests feel at home.

About Out of the ColdOut of the Cold: Centre County is a low-barrier shelter open from 8 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. every night. During the 2022-2023 season, 17 congregations helped to provide overnight shelter for 175 guests.
Each evening our guests are welcomed warmly, served a hot meal, given a cot, warm blankets, and a place to sleep. Breakfast is served in the morning and before leaving guests can register to return that evening. Basic case management is provided to guests for assistance acquiring housing and other supportive services at our Day Shelter, located at 318 South Atherton Street in State College. We are working to make the Meetinghouse our full-time shelter. Vision
Out of the Cold will care for the unsheltered in Centre County, working toward a day when homelessness is a rare, brief, and one time event. Mission Out of the Cold is a community supported organization that answers the call to serve those experiencing homelessness in our community by providing shelter, food, and support services during the transition to permanent housing. |
